Matt Doran has revealed he was “sassed” as he made his way to the Channel Seven studio on New Year’s Day.

The anchor, 41, left the Sunrise panel in a fit of laughter at Brekky Central on Monday, when he said let slip he got a bit of attitude from a cashier at a service station.

Matt said he was buying a coffee and a small bite to eat, only for the cashier to playfully take aim at him.

“On my way to work this morning, stopped off to get a coffee and a little snack, and the attendant says to me ‘first snacks of the New Year then’,’’ Matt said, in mock outrage.

The comment sent the panel into a fit of laughter, with Matt less-than-pleased with the subtle dig.

“I was sassed on the way into work,” he said.

Monique Wright kept the joke going, asking Matt how the “New Year’s resolutions are going” — playfully piling on with the offence.

Jovial Monique also added New Year’s Day was her favourite day of the year to come to work.

“It is my favourite morning of the year to come to work, because there are still people pirouetting along the sidewalk,” she said.

Elsewhere, Matt said he was tucked up in bed early for New Year’s.

Matt is married to TV producer Kendall Bora, after he popped the question on New Year’s Eve in 2020.
